This will be an interactive presentation, exploring scripture memorization within the context of Bible quizzing, a ministry associated with the Christian Missionary Alliance. Learn how to memorize, how to disciple and mentor youth in God’s Word, and hear how to start a team in your own church or join an already existing team. Pastors and elders are especially encouraged to attend this session.
The Battle for Freedom
Is there really a battle? Don’t we live in a free country? In this session the reality of threats and what they mean to you will be presented. There are significant attacks to freedom and parental choice of home education in Canada (yes Canada). These will be outlined along with what is being done to advance home education rights in Canada. The session will also give you the information on what you can do to help the cause in Canada and around the world.
Slinkys, Sand and Shakespeare
If someone in your house is struggling to read, how can slinkys help? How do we go from the baby steps of learning to read to making it a wonderful part of our family culture? Be encouraged to make reading a joyful part of everyday life. First, we will address methods of teaching reading, the theoretical and the practical, relying on input from many different families using many different methods, including helpful exercises. Then, more importantly, let’s talk about how to cultivate a love of reading, gleaning from our family’s experience and the classical style of learning from great minds through reading whole, living books.

High School Outside the Box
Feeling overwhelmed and intimidated by the pressure of homeschooling teens? (i.e. not only preparing them for university, but somehow manufacturing those crazy transcripts/portfolios and figuring out which hoops you need to jump through in order to have your child accepted into university in the first place?!) High school should not have to be a negative, scary experience for parents or their children! Come to this session and learn how it can be a fun and unique journey, exploring alternative ways to prepare our teens for life.
Looking Back
Have you ever wanted to sit in on another mom’s homeschooling day? In this workshop you can do just that, as several moms with lots of experience will share their insight on what worked for them, what didn’t, and even what they would change looking back. Come hear successful moms tell how they got to where they are, and what they learned regarding how to juggle different ages and keep everything running in a busy home.
Four Styles Panel
Each homeschool is free to make a choice- what method will we use? Many people, books, and publishers vie for your attention, and it’s hard to know what’s the best choice for your family. See how each of the different approaches handles preschool, planning, family scheduling, teaching different ages together, learning struggles and high school. How and when did they choose not to take the traditional approach? How would your family culture change if you were to adopt one of these methods? Represented are: classical, Charlotte Mason, unit studies and unschooling.
Sensitive Subjects Pt. 2
This discussion will help parents initiate and continue to lead their children in a true understanding of sexuality and intimacy. A follow-up to last year’s panel, this year’s session will go deeper as we all learn how to keep the conversation going with our children about topics that don’t often come up at the family dinner table. Join us as we touch on how lusts come about in our children and how to respond to them, how our relationship with our spouse can be a template for how we teach our children, and how do we sensitively teach about homosexuality? This discussion is intended for parents/adults who are interested in thinking more about these topics, but given its sensitive nature, will remain closed to children/teens.

In this session, Israel explains the importance of Affirmation as a way to inspire and motivate your reluctant child. Drawing from practical and Biblical examples, this session will help you to keep those important relational connections as you are attempting to impart knowledge.
