Before You Begin - PANEL
Starting to home educate can be overwhelming. Whether you are on the fence about home education, just starting off or need to review the basics, this workshop is for you. Join us as a panel of home educators share their 'how-to's' about getting started. Come see how different doesn't mean wrong. Ask the questions you need answers to like “Am I qualified? How do I prepare? Where can I go for help? What should I avoid? What does Manitoba law require?” This is a free session open to the public. Plan to come and be inspired to start to home educate your way.
KEYNOTE – Homeschooling the Next Generation: How They Think and Why It Matters- Renton Rathbun – FRI-7:00pm
PRAIRIE HALL - FREE SESSION Keynote 2 - Friday, 7:00-8:15pm
Homeschooling the Next Generation: How They Think and Why It Matters
Young people continue to consent to and even affirm culturally acceptable sin. Sometimes we think, "My kids will never get tangled up in the LGBTQ+, and Social Justice movements." But do we understand this generation enough to know how to protect them? In this talk, we discover the root of the thought process that has groomed Gen Z into doubting God, redefining Christianity, and ultimately walking away from the faith. We discuss three biblical principles to respond with as we educate, train, and prepare this generation for a world that hates God.
A respected Christian apologist and educator, Dr. Renton Rathbun brings clarity and conviction to the cultural challenges facing today’s families. His sessions will help equip parents and teens to confidently defend their faith and engage culture thoughtfully and biblically. He speaks on biblical worldview and apologetics across the country as well as podcasts, radio, and TV. He trains faculty, administrators, and families in biblical worldview all over the US. Renton holds a BS in English Education and an MA in interpretative speech from Bob Jones University. He has also received an MFA in creative writing from Minnesota State University, an MA in philosophy from the University of Toledo, a ThM from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, and has a PhD in apologetics from Westminster Theological Seminary.
